“Not to give up under any circumstances should be the motto of our life: we shall try again and again, and we are bound to succeed. There will be obstacles, but we have to defy them. So do not give up, do not give up!” ― Sri Chinmoy

Feeling much better physically today, but felt I had my heart ripped from my chest emotionally yesterday.   Father Steven came with Juliana and at first everyone was all smiles, and Father Steven told us that Juliana had agreed to let Charlini go to the boarding school.  Shaban was translating for us because while I can understand most Swahili, when it gets loud and fast, I get lost, and that’s just what happened.  All of a sudden Juliana started yelling at Father Steven and he gave as good as he got.  I looked at Shaban and he leaned over and whispered it was a family fight and he wasn’t going to get involved.  At one point, Father Steven told Juliana she was no longer a part of his family.  Juliana is keeping Charlini at home, we suspect so she can later become a prostitute like her aunt to bring money home just as her uncle the drug dealer does.  Juliana has quit and is coming back on Monday to sign the papers because by quitting she is entitled to all the social security we have been paying on her behalf for years.  After about an hour of emotional fighting between himself and Juliana, Father Steven thanked us for all we had done for both Juliana and Charlini and asked for forgiveness for his not being able to help at the time.  Juliana stormed out and Shaban had to drive Father Steven back to Musoma.  Unfortunately, Shaban had to go to Mwanza today, so we don’t know exactly what was said.  As soon as we find out, you will find out.  The important thing is that Father Steven is now on our side having seen for himself how crazy Juliana has become.  We have not given up nor will we.  We promised in front of both of them to continue to pay for Charlini’s school fees at the Catholic school and for special tutoring.  We hope that Father Steven can get Charlini away from Juliana, then we can get her into boarding school, and later work on adoption.  We will never abandon that sweet little girl or cease to fight for her and on her behalf.  Whatever we can do, we will do—and you can take that to the bank.  Those of you who sent money to help, it is still in the bank, and we will use it for Charlini.  If we need to spend it on attorney’s fees or other expenses we hadn’t counted on, we will get your permission first, but nothing will stop us from trying to protect, care for, educate, and love her.  Nothing.
