Quote of the Day:  "Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." -- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Today we began the tenth new church since we have been here.  It is right here in Bunda about six kilometers from our mission.  When we first moved here, we rented a house in the Bunda Sto area of Bunda.  We now live in Chiringe, but we lived in Bunda Sto for over six months--a much poorer area of Bunda with more than its share of malaria deaths.  Now there is a Bunda Sto Methodist Church that is meeting in a school.  The people are anxious to begin making bricks so that they can begin work on an eventual church building on land that the church already owns.  They have almost sixty members with about forty children and are working on a choir.  Pastor Nyansa will be leading it until we can find an Evangelist to be there on a permanent basis.  The picture at right shows Karen presenting three new Bibles in Swahili to Pastor Nyansa as well as 50,000 Tsh which will buy ten song books for the congregation.  It is all we can afford to do right now, but they were so appreciative.  This is a church founded on love and hope.  I can think of no better beginning.  Our new churches have a membership of almost 2,000 as of this writing which matches the 2,000 members of our older churches.  It is a thrill to be a part of the fastest growing area of Christianity in the world.  We can not do much to help, but we stand shoulder to shoulder with our new Christians and offer hope and friendship.  In the coming weeks, we will baptize about sixty of the new members since some have come from other churches.  A good day for God.
