Quote of the Day: "It's always something." Gilda Radner
After going six years without contracting malaria, John broke his perfect record and is very sick. We have had two doctors here, and they are giving him a new anti-malarial medication that is effective against the malaria strains that are proving very resistant to current medications. We are praying that this will work and that we will see improvement tomorrow. Poor Charlini saw and heard John when he was throwing up and this scared her very much as she expected him to die as the people in the village do when they get that sick. John calmed her down by smiling at her through his pain. Karen is also sick having contracted an ear infection that spread to her jaw--caused by having her hair done at a local shop where they used local water to wash her hair. It is so easy to get sick here. You just can't let your guard down for even a second or those little germs just rush right in. The doctors got two for one and prescribed antibiotics for Karen and she is already showing some signs of improvement which is good because I am not a really good nurse, but I do what I have to do. Keep John and Karen in your prayers, please.
