Quote of the Day: When we lose one blessing, another is often most unexpectedly given in its place. ~ C.S. Lewis
We lost our isolation switch today which is a big deal. What's an isolation switch? I hear you saying that. Well, it is the device that lets you shift all of your electrical needs from the national grid (Tanesco) to your generator. As often as Tanesco goes down, it gets a lot of use. Without it, you can't use your generator even if you have one. The last time this happened it took two days to fix and cost over $500. We had to go to Mwanza ($100 trip) to find one ($350) and then had to pay an electrician to install it ($50). This time, Shaban knew a guy who worked at a big cotton gin here locally. They had recently ordered six isolation switches when they only needed three, so they were willing to sell one of the spares (industrial strength) for $200. No trip to Mwanza and while the electrician still charged $50 for installation, he also took the broken one and said he would get it fixed for free and bring it back to us to use as a spare. Got the whole thing done in one day, so a good day was had by all. There are times when all the dominoes fall in your direction. Thank God for small blessings.
