Quote of the Day: I think, at a child's birth, if a mother could ask a fairy godmother to endow it with the most useful gift, that gift should be curiosity. -- Eleanor Roosevelt
Today is my son John's 38th birthday. What a joy he has been and continues to be. He had a lot of problems from birth (physical defects and Asperger's Syndrome among them), but he battled back and has become a wonderful Christian man. He has always been curious (see above quote) and at times it was like raising an otter in the house. In fact, that was his nickname as he was growing up, and Karen's brother sent him a stuffed otter that he still has. He was almost kicked out of junior high school for failing every class, but he was an honor graduate from Gravette High School and went on to get a B.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Arkansas. In January of 2006, he came for a one-week visit and has been here ever since. He has taught sanitation and hygiene classes, computers, and put pumps in wells, football fields near churches, and been instrumental in several evangelical programs here. John has also been taking care of Karen and I as we work through numerous health issues. It is also very nice to have a computer and electronic expert in the house. I don't think Karen and I could even watch t.v. if he wasn't here. His happiness is contagious. Oh, and he loves puppies having raised two and working on a third right now. We are very, very proud of him.
