Quote of the Day: “Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark. Professionals built the Titanic.” ― Andy Didonato
We have moved the St. Caryn Academy preschool into Karen's school building. The little ones will have the morning and the older ones learning English will have the afternoon. This means we will have forty-five kids on the premises five days a week. That means cooking for forty-five every day, but Neema says it will be "hakuna shida" -- no problem. We will need a bigger kitchen, but more on that later. It also means that the two choos (bathrooms, restrooms, loos, WC's) will become dedicated to one for boys and one for girls and our workers are out of luck. The kids make a big mess (they clean it at the end of every day, but still . . .), so the staff doesn't want to use those choos. So, we built a brand new one for our staff and included a shower so they can go home fresh at the end of the day (if they want). We also put in a light for the ones who work at night. The staff are delighted with a choo that is off limits to children and church members. It is just theirs and they will take good care of it. Shaban was the foreman and did a great job with a 750,000 Tsh budget (about $500). It looks great (see the picture at the right--click on it and see three more). There is always something going on here, new construction, repairs, or moving things around, but there is always something new. We like it like that. See above quote.
