Quote of the Day: “Play keeps us vital and alive. It gives us an enthusiasm for life that is irreplaceable. Without it, life just doesn’t taste good” - Lucia Capocchione
While Alice and the Baptist pastor, Motomoto, were visiting orphanages in the area, Shaban and John went on the hunt for soccer uniforms for the kids who play just outside our fence next to the church. Alice's church back in South Carolina provided the money for the uniforms after they read about the team in this blog. John and Shaban scored a great deal and were able to get uniforms that were pre made for just $10 a uniform which meant that they can also now get shoes for at least half the team. Somehow, we will come up with the money for the other shoes. I can't wait to show you the kids in their uniforms, but they have to stay in the packages for now. One day next week, we will get the kids together and suited up and take pictures. We now have nets in both goals and the kids are just beside themselves with joy. We can hear them laughing and playing happily every afternoon until the sun sets (which here is always around six pm). There is just something about the happy sounds of children playing that lift the heart, especially in a place where there is so much poverty and disease. God bless the children.
