Quote of the Day: "Education...is a painful, continual and difficult work to be done in kindness, by watching, by warning,... by praise, but above all -- by example." - John Ruskin
It is always easier to teach when the students want to learn. There wasn't a woman at the sanitation and hygiene seminar today (the first of two days) who did not want to be a better mother, a better wife, a better member of her community, and a better Christian. All of this made for a wonderful day of teaching and learning about water, flies, washing hands, how to care for sick babies, and many other things. Karen, a real trooper, taught in the morning despite feeling ill, and Alice assisted and then taught in the afternoon by herself (she's a trooper, too). Tomorrow, John will teach about nutrition, and they will all learn the importance and use of treated mosquito nets and will then be presented with one. Many lives will be saved just from the nets, and many hearts will be open to the Holy Spirit because of the loving care demonstrated by Alice, Karen, and John. John taught all day in Musoma today and came home knackered. We will all sleep well tonight, but it is a good tired.
