Quote of the Day: Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it. Because what the world needs is more people who have come alive – Howard Thurman.
John and Shaban went out to visit the pump they installed for three villages and to visit with the people who are using it. It is getting a lot of use and the people are very grateful. Cattle were coming and trying to drink from it and contaminating the water coming out, so the villagers built a brick wall to keep them out. They made the bricks and built the wall. All we did was to supply the cement. John took a picture of their work at right (only one picture--no point in clicking on it). We got two packages in the mail over the weekend from our kids back in the states and it was like Christmas in June here at our house. Video games, electronic devices, spices, socks, artificial sweetener, and lots of stuff that we have been missing. Now, all three of us have iPads and you can find each of us with head down bathed in the artificial light of the screen. Everything's up to date in East Africa. They even included a tiny canned ham. What great kids. The only thing that customs stole was a broken iPod (broken glass), and I think they thought they had broken it. Anyway, we are elated. It only took two months and one package was mailed a month after the other one, but they both arrived and that's what counts.
