Quote of the Day: Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared. Buddha
We have a post office box in the little post office here in Bunda. We only check it about once a week because so many of our communications are by internet these days. Today, we found an invitation to a wedding in Springdale, Arkansas. It made Karen cry because it was from one of her former kindergartners. This is amazing because this five-year-old from the '90s has kept up with Karen all this time. I can hardly remember any of my teachers and certainly none from elementary school, so this little girl's (or her mother's) keeping up with Karen is unusual. Even more so, because we live in Tanzania and have for the last seven years, yet this girl knew our mailing address and went to the trouble to use it and send the invitation (with a picture of the happy couple inside) all the way to Africa. Karen can't make the wedding, but she has prayed for the couple and had her day brightened by one from long ago. Thank you to the little girl--now a married woman--for reaching across the continents to touch her former teacher (who had not forgotten the student, either). It doesn't take much to change the quality of someone's day. We should do it more often.
