Quote of the Day: “Earth laughs in flowers.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Rain may bring grief but it also always brings flowers. A long, long time ago, my wife told me that she would always feel rich if she had fresh flowers every day. When she was growing up, her grandmother always kept fresh flowers in her refrigerator so that they would last longer, so Karen always dreamed of the day when she could have fresh flowers every day. Well, her dreams came true here in Tanzania. We have roses and hibiscus and many flowers whose names we don't know. Every day Lusi or Juliana goes outside and cuts enough flowers to put fresh flowers in several rooms. The beauty and the aroma brighten her day. Looking out every window we can see roses or daisies or morning glories. We have more flowers in our small compound area than any other place in Bunda, and we love it. Edina makes sure that there are always flowers blooming. She will dig up whole beds at a time and replant to keep the colors fresh and new. Flowers are very cheap here because they are not food or good for building or anything else except to make the place look fresh and pretty. Thank you God for flowers--they make every day another beautiful thing for which we are grateful.
