Tomorrow is another national holiday kind of like Labor Day in the U.S., but it comes on May 1st. We will only have two staff working tomorrow, and we will pay them double for working a holiday. With John sick, Karen not well yet, and me sick and with a bad back, we are just laughably helpless and need someone to cook and clean for us at the least. There are times when we really miss having a 24-hour Walgreen's nearby, especially since they close the hospitals and dispensaries for holidays. Did I mention that Shaban has malaria, as well? Rainy season turns everything green and leaves huge pools of water everywhere to breed mosquitos, so crops grow and children die. Doesn't seem right, does it? Perhaps someday, someone will figure out how to end malaria everywhere, and we will celebrate. When I was a child, I was told to eat a sugar cube with a new medicine on it--the Salk vaccine. It was the beginning of the end of polio in the United States. Ah, if we could only find a vaccine for malaria. We did it more than once, so we still hope. Keep us in your prayers.
