Edina and Lusi both showed up to work today after being out for two days, but they were still sick, so we sent them home. They don't work Sundays, so maybe by Monday they'll be feeling better. We always miss them when they're not here and they are so loyal that they show up sick--wonderful women. We live in a society where hurting someone's feelings is considered a terrible thing to do--and we like that. More of us need to more thoughtful of the things we say and do to hurt others. And doing something that hurts someone and then lightly saying "my bad" is even worse for that is the least remorseful and least sincere apology there is. It's like saying "I didn't mean for you to hear that" which is bad enough in itself. Words do hurt and we need to mindful of that. Caring for one another is one of the hallmarks of this culture which is one of the reasons we like it so much. No one hears enough words of kindness and comfort. This is one of the things that Jesus taught us. A very famous theologian was asked to sum up his theology in one sentence. He replied, "Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so." Amen.
