Power came back at 5:00 pm yesterday then went out again at six and was out till eleven. Went back off this morning at six am and came back around one pm. I have forgotten what it was like to never think about electricity--it was just always there. Here, we are reminded every day that we need to be grateful for what we have and we are grateful. The smile and laugh of a four-year-old girl makes us smile and laugh and helps take the edge off the death of a neighbor's four-year-old. One of my professors at seminary, when she learned we were coming here said that nothing is ever permanent here. Boy, was she ever right. We are blessed even when we suffer as that reminds us of Christ's suffering for us. A couple I am financing through seminary sent me a text message that they were out of food and starving. They are coming tomorrow to get food--as much as they can carry back home. We are proud to be able to help, even when it is just a little. Do some random acts of kindness wherever you are and thank God for all your blessings. Some may need to pray to have God show them what their blessings are, many will know but will have forgotten to say thank you. God loves you and takes care of you. Don't you think that is worth a daily "thank you"?
