There are times when what one person says can make your whole day, or more. Karen and John attended a meeting today under a tree. It was mostly our neighborhood community continuing a sort of neighborhood watch to deal with some minor thefts which occurred a few months ago. Since we armed our guys with flashlights and whistles (we provided the flashlights), the thefts have virtually stopped. As the meeting progressed, several people spoke of how well the community liked us and what we are doing here. The "belozi" or ward captain told me this morning that we are "beloved" (his word) by the people here for what we do and for how we respect the local culture. I don't think I've ever been more honored than to be told we were beloved by our neighbors. High praise indeed. We were told that we were not like other missionaries because we really cared about the people. Well, that's what Jesus told us to do, wasn't it? Love your neighbor as yourself, as I remember it. Nice to hear that others think we do just that. Cool, huh?
