We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Just Karen, John, and I, but we are family. We had a wonderful meal of roast chicken, apple stuffing, green beans and fried onions, little rolls, and Karen even made chocolate cookies for desert. Of course, nothing came out of a can or was prepared in advance, and Karen did all the cooking, giving the cook a day off. We are truly thankful for having a solid floor under our feet, running water, biosand filters to clean our drinking water, mosquito nets, electric lights (even if it's the generator supplying the power), and a wonderful staff to help us. We are so very thankful to God for giving us this opportunity, late in our lives, to be of service to His children in this far away land.
Today, we helped Godson (love that name) who is the pastor of the Bunda church get a small business going so he can feed his family. For us a small business loan is about $60 U.S. dollars. Not much, but it will make a huge difference in his life. How can you not help someone get the tools to help themselves, their families, and the church? We were not told to succeed, we were told to try, and try we will until we can try no more. Thanks for all the prayers sent our way yesterday. We couldn't do it without your prayers.
