Today, we found out that our trusted builder, Omari, who had built three other buildings for us here had run off with the last of the construction funds and went back to his home in Arusha leaving the building unfinished and his workers unpaid. It was quite a blow to us. He was a friend and we had worked together on many projects over the past few years. Luckily, there's not a lot left to do. Finish the floor, painting inside and out, and putting in the doors is all that is left. We have the people here who can do it, and it won't cost a lot to finish--probably less than a thousand dollars. The good news is that we can and will finish it. I once asked a nun in Boston if she thought that women would ever be ordained as priests. She said, "If a thing is of God, there is nothing that can stop it. If it is not of God, almost anything can stop it." What we are about here at Maisha Na Maji is of God. It is never a question of "if" only of "when", and we are very patient. Thank you for your prayers but don't stop praying for us. We get our strength from you. May God bless each and every one of you.
