The Monday after Easter is a national holiday here, called, unsurprisingly, Easter Monday. The whole staff was off yesterday except for one of the security guards, who is Muslim--and he got extra pay, anyway. Shaban came in today still suffering from malaria but needing to start making about six filters for Father Choka. I am having one of my rainy seasons allergy attacks. Happily they usually only last a day or so because I can't breathe, sleep, read, and sneeze almost non-stop. Still, I met with a young man who needs the last year of his secondary paid for, and since I paid for all the years up to now, he will get his money. Karen and John taped up electrical outlets and switches getting ready for the painters tomorrow. It is amazing what a difference getting all the glitz out of Easter and Christmas makes. Three or four days of worship as opposed to Easter egg hunts, chocolate bunnies, depression over the cost of presents, etc. It is as relaxing, invigorating, and inspirational as it should be.
